What We Believe
Allendale Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental Baptist church. We stand on the following truths of God’s Word:
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible is the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings and preserved for us in the Authorized (King James) Version. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21)
God
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — the same in essence and equal in power and glory. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of the Father. (John 1:1,14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, and regenerates, indwells, and empowers every believer for godly living and service. (John 16:8–11; Romans 8:9)
Man and Sin
We believe man was created in the image of God but fell by sin, so that all people are sinners by nature and by choice, separated from God and in need of salvation. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 5:12)
Salvation
We believe salvation is the free gift of God, received by grace alone, through faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone — not by works. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5)
Eternal Security
We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by the power of God and are eternally secure in Christ. (John 10:28–29; Romans 8:38–39)
The Church & Ordinances
We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers with Christ as its Head, observing two ordinances: believer’s baptism by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper. (Acts 2:41–42; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)
Last Things
We believe in the personal, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the eternal joy of the saved in heaven, and the eternal punishment of the lost. (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15)
